ROUGE PRIVÉ

“So possible is it for us to roll ourselves up in wickedness, till we grow invulnerable by conscience; and that sentinel, once dozed, sleeps fast, not to be awakened while the tide of pleasure continues to flow or till something dark and dreadful brings us to ourselves again.”

(“Roxana” by Daniel Defoe)

ROUGE PRIVÉ is inspired by the dark novel “Roxana” by the English author Daniel Defoe. It is the life story of a woman who has traded her virtue for living a wicked life as the fortunate mistress of rich and powerful men. The novel addresses themes of seduction, dreams of fame, illusions, escape and triumph over personal weaknesses.

As the prelude to a seduction game, the Damask rose - known as the queen of flowers - whispers enchanting tones while natural lemon and delicate bergamot blossoms join each other to exchange delicate touches.

The blooming temptation of sensual rose is further intensified by peony flowers, while alluring accords of patchouli enchant the senses.

The note of precious amber mingles with the vibrant accents of vetiver like the intertwined fingers of two lovers, while the soothing note of benzoin balsam allows you to forget everything and disappear in the voluptuous scent.

The main inspiration for the „ROUGE PRIVÉ“ was the red color and its shades. That’s why I chose to associate Turkish Rose with dark brown Benzoin and Indian Jasmine because although Jasmine is a white flower, its smell evokes warm red vibrations. To capture the desired richness and opulence I also introduced the velvet purple peony and the warm patchouli to the ambery structure. There is a famous French poem: Correspondence from Baudelaire:” There are perfumes as cool as the flesh of children [...] and others are corrupt and rich, triumphant “ For me, ROUGE PRIVE is corrupt, and rich, triumphant and I would add addictive.
